Local opera singer Emilio Fina is one of twelve finalists on Canada’s Got Talent. Now I may be biased, because I know the guy and he’s a super nicer person, but I also think he happens to have some talent up his sleeves too! He’s a Mannheim (basically a dot on the map between Kitchener and New Hamburg). […]

We feel the impacts of the global arms trade in our community. We have an arms manufacturer in our local economy, we are host to refugees and refugee claimants fleeing countries of violent conflict. The arms trade is globalized, no doubt. But its impacts are affecting communities worldwide. Project Ploughshares and the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies present […]

Not only my blogging drought, but the OPERA drought. These crazy towns of KW-C haven’t seen an opera production in a long long time. Anyways this Saturday at 7p.m. is Opera Kitchener’s production of Don Giovanni. Tickets are a steal at $25-30!! A sample of music from the show. This is one of the duets […]

Just saw this going south on King. Amusing. Opera Kitchener performing La bohème at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga this Friday at 7:30pm. Guaranteed to be fantastic show, since I’m in it, as Townsfolk #3. Seats are about 80% sold out, so don’t drive to Missusaga without first purchasing a ticket online.

Rude Native Bistro & Lounge King and Erb in Uptown Waterloo So I heard Rude Native has an insane happy hour deal $4 for all appetizers and drinks, everyday 4pm-6pm and 10pm-2am. Three of us went, and got samosas, mussels,  garlic buds and brie, some drinks and some dessert. The food was good. I honestly pigged out on […]

Kismet Restaurant 160 University Ave W. Waterloo Monday to Saturday: 11:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. To most, Kismet means fate or destiny. To me Kismet is like an abusive relationship with really really really good food. The staff hate all customers. Don’t expect a smile. Don’t ask questions about the menu items. And for goodness […]
